City of Oceanside proclaims “To Save A Life Weekend”

OCEANSIDE, CA (January 8, 2009) - The City of Oceanside honored the film production "To Save A Life" in a city proclamation that was read aloud to a larger than normal crowd at last Wednesday's Council Meeting. The proclamation was presented and signed by Mayor Jim Wood, Councilmember's Jack Feller, Esther Sanchez and Jerry Kern and states the following:

 

Proclamation to Announce January 22-24, 2010 will be "To Save A Life Weekend" in the City of Oceanside. 

Whereas, TO SAVE A LIFE, the movie, is a full-length feature film produced primarily in the City of Oceanside focusing on making a positive change in our community and beyond, regarding the major teen issues of suicide, teen pregnancy, alcohol and self abuse: and

 

Whereas, TO SAVE A LIFE Weekend, January 22-24, 2010, is public recognition of the movie, TO SAVE A LIFE, and the film's producer New Song Community Church for the positive effect on the youth in our community this movie will make: and

 

Whereas, TO SAVE A LIFE, the movie, is recognized for utilizing Oceanside middle and high school students, Oceanside police and firemen, and features such notable Oceanside sites as our beautiful harbor and beach:   

 

Now therefore, be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Oceanside, California does hereby proclaim January 22-24, 2010 as "To Save A Life Weekend".  We commend TO SAVE A LIFE, the movie, for its positive content to affect the youth of our community and applaud their efforts.

Among the speakers was Councilmember Jack Feller who stated, "New Song Church has truly committed their heart and soul to saving the children of our community. This educational and inspirational movie needs to be seen by every young person 13 years old and up. It may be just what one of those children need to "SAVE A LIFE".

New Song Community Church Youth Pastor Jim Britts, who wrote the screenplay and Executive Pastor and Producer Steve Foster, received the proclamation. Several events are planned to celebrate the movie's release and commemorate "To Save A Life Weekend".

On January 15th "To Save A Life" events kick-off with a Book Donation, Reading and signing by authors Jim and Rachel Britts at the Oceanside Library. There will be opportunities to win or purchase the "To Save A Life" book, movie tickets, t-shirts and other promotional items.

On January 21st a Red Carpet Special Event and pre-screening of "To Save A Life" is planned at the Regal Theatre in Downtown Oceanside. The Red Carpet Event begins at 5:00 pm in the Regal Plaza. The film screening begins at 6:15pm, followed by an After Screening Dessert Reception at New Song Community Church. A Limited number of tickets are available for the Red Carpet event. There will also be information booths at the Oceanside Sunset Market from 4:00pm - 8:00pm that will include many North County Youth Groups as "To Save A Life - Join The Movement" officially launches to impact the lives of local youth.
